Reflection

Posted on April 21, 2025 by Lou

During the time of Lent this year, T and I read through a devotional called Journey To The Cross by Paul David Tripp. It was a good time to reflect and ask ourselves at times some necessary questions. Yesterday on day 40, Easter Sunday near the end of the devotion was written this statement:

“The empty tomb of Jesus is your guarantee that what you live with today will not always be. Every enemy that troubles your life right here, right now, will be under the victorious feet of your risen Savior Jesus. His empty tomb guarantees the completion of the work.” What a beautiful picture. I am often guilty of not living my life with that reality. Even yesterday we were under a threat of storms and the peace I am promised in John 20:19 was not visible as I fretted over where we could find refuge at the boys ranch we are serving at this month. Funny! A few nights before that when it was storming a song came to mind by Ryan Stevenson called Eye of the Storm. The song starts out with the following lyrics ”In the eye of the storm, You remain in control” God being in control should be enough to have peace in my heart and my mind, but often in my own flesh when fear creeps in, complete trust in Him is kicked to the wayside. I am so thankful God is patient with me! How about you friend? What is something you learned, contemplated over etc. leading up to Easter? I would love to hear about it.

For the month of April and some of May T and I are hanging out in southern Missouri. We are serving at a Boys Ranch and then taking some time off before heading to western Tennessee. Pray for us both to view our time off as a time to heal and restore our bodies, to truly see the people around us and for me especially to not become a recluse. I tend to have a habit of doing that at campgrounds while T is outside talking to everyone around us lol.

Next time I chime in I will be able to share my experiences on formulating my own personal eye cream. Looking forward to that! Love to each of you-Lou
