My goal this year was to post at least twice a month and stay more connected. Granted this goal can sometimes be hampered by poor internet, but if I remember rightly that wasn’t the case last month. It seems like our time went by fast at our last camp. We arrived a little later for us, which we have no regrets, because of where our time was spent, chased waterfalls on two of the weekends we had free and spent time with old friends from Colorado Springs the other weekend. Evenings were spent most of the time with our June group eating at the camp dining hall out on their back porch. I’m not going to lie our time in TN was sweaty. Lots of rain often equals increased humidity! During camps we would hear the joyful sound of children singing and laughing as they were being hauled in school buses and mini vans from one location to another. On the weekends we finally found the quiet we had been seeking. The camp was very peaceful, away from a busy road with the sound of chorusing birds and pitch black skies.
After two days of travel we are now in Ohio and will be hanging out here for a month. We have already hit the ground running helping C and Y with the their new home. There is much to do in DIY projects and we know we can’t help them with it all so doing the best we can to come alongside them. I’m glad we are here. Today I am hoping to take a little break and go Mother of the Groom dress shopping with Y. I can’t believe how time has flown by and feeling I have procrastinated. I have looked online a lot, but kept hoping I would find the right deal lol. I don’t dress up very often, if at all, and clothes shopping is not something I enjoy. So here I am just over two months to go and stressing a little because I don’t have anything yet. Pray for me to find something soon! I know our time here will go quickly so also pray that I will stop , be still and take in those small moments.
Even though we are physically not in Texas part of my heart is there with what has happened over the last few days. T and I love the Hill Country area. It is beautiful, with many hills, twists and turns that you don’t experience in other parts of Texas. We spent nearly three months exploring in and around Kerrville during the holidays of 2024 and early this year. The camp we served at was not affected by the floods and is planning on continuing their Summer camps, but the loss in that area just like when a tornado or hurricane passes through will be felt for a long time to come. The reminders will be evident in the landscape that has forever been changed and empty lots where a home used to be. It will also be seen in the faces of the locals who will never forget and will continue to grieve.
Our internet is spotty this morning so I will try and post some pictures later this week. I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer. I would love to hear from you. Until next time- Love Lou
