Its A Wrap

Posted on August 29, 2025August 29, 2025 by Lou

Well Summer is nearly over although I am not sure if Texas will get the memo anytime soon! The last few months have been a time of reflection, connection, reconnection, attempted rest and at times some hard work thrown in for good measure. T and I have travelled about 2700 miles this Summer with a RV in tow. Its crazy to think that we originally planned to travel further north and do more. We would still like to see Michigan, Minnesota and other states in the Midwest and further North East, but for now we are back in Texas and anticipating N and S’s wedding middle of next month.

Its nice to be parked by friends and be surrounded by familiar for the next month. Copper has another dog or two to play with at the dog park and we have a safe place to walk him right outside our door. I’m trying to get back in to a routine after our travels by getting up to turn the water on for the plants outside the office while its cooler outside and taking an early morning walk with or without Copper. A friend next door who I have encouraged in the past with sourdough baking is now inspiring me to get back into the swing of things. So far I have made a country farmhouse sandwich loaf. The process was much easier than I have experienced. I really liked that this particular recipe required a lower baking temperature and less prep work, both factors ideal for RV baking! I have also been doing a little bit of decorating, sprucing up our little space with a splash of colour using textiles in the living/kitchen/dining/ bedroom room area and adding some tiles to the bathroom. This process started when I introduced Y to Hobby Lobby in Ohio and I ended up buying some new floor rugs that are washable. T and I went to a flea market in Indiana and found some peel and stick tiles and a solar yard light. I then saw a sofa cushion I liked in a store in Iowa, bought some new placemats after seeing a friends whilst visiting in Missouri and then I proceeded to look for a rug runner and a new throw for the recliners which were waiting for us when we arrived in Texas. I will say I think the inspiration to make some changes after two and a half years of living in the Brinkley RV came after helping C and Y with their new home. We were painting, decorating etc their space and it helped me realise how much I enjoy and miss having that creative outlet. I’m not sure how to expand on that revelation, but for now I am satisfied with the small changes I have made.

T had an appointment with an orthopedic specialist last week and it was decided he would get a steroid injection this week to see if that will help with his ongoing pain. Twenty Four hours in from having the treatment he seems to be having some relief. We are praying that the pain will continue to subside. We do not have many plans to see out the rest of the year or for the Winter months as much still depends on how T is feeling and physically doing. I wish I could tell you we have peace and a direction on where our landing post/home base should be. For some reason we are still struggling to know where that is but know it is something we both would like especially with some of the challenges we have had this year. Knowing we had a home base to come back to would have taken some of the stress away that we were feeling during moments of illness etc. We know God has a plan. He has us on the road for a reason and at times we have to get out of our own heads, refocus on the positives and how we are growing through this process of living on the road. Here are some pictures to summarise the last few months on the road. How can we be praying for you as we travel?

View from the porch at the camp we worked at in June. The founder passed away from cancer this week. I know the camp could use your prayers as they grieve and move forward.
T was involved in pouring concrete at the widows homes while we were there.
Daily entertainment while sitting out on the covered porch eating meals was the coming and goings of Father and Mother bird as they fed their new babies.
One of the waterfalls we visited within an hour of the camp in south central TN
It was quite rainy during the month of June in TN but we were still able to enjoy some beautiful scenery.
We caught up with and spent a few days with old friends based outside of Nashville.
A quick driving tour of downtown Nashville
Downtown has some beautiful historic buildings but as we visited on a weekend it was very busy so glad we didn’t get out and walk around. One of us would have been miserable if we had!
We then travelled north east to Ohio to check in on Y and C and their new home
Here is an unusual picture of T smiling while painting
C under the guidance of T learned many new skills while we were helping them with their home
Some of the work was challenging and didn’t appreciate the attention of a mum taking pics 🙂
Trying some sourdough baking.
And taking some time to enjoy their new space.
C and I had a couple of Mother/ son outings together.
We still made a little time for exploring.
And to take an updated picture at a previously visited location
We connected again with M and she introduced us to some more new games.
We would play this one again.
Staying at the Famcamp had us witness some interesting views of military personnel practicing low altitude low opening.
We then moved on to the Amish country of Indiana for a Brinkley RV Factory tour and a few days of sightseeing.
Heres an example of a RV assembly line. We did take pictures at the factory but are not allowed to post. This example is displayed at the RV Museum in Elkhart.
Balcony view of the RV Museum
This rig had a really hard looking seat!
A family used this RV for their holidays for over 30 years
We are grateful RV decor and design has changed over the years
This motorhome is as old as me!
Some of the smaller travel trailers were so quaint and cute.
One of the beautiful wall murals we saw on our auto tour of the area.
Large wooden Nickle near the campground in Iowa our next stop.
Copper trying to get acquainted with the local wildlife.
Visiting a sweet friend.
Our first stay at a farm. This one belongs to some dear friends. A beautiful view to wake up to.
Making Salsa with S using her home grown tomatoes..
New views took us to my in-laws
Copper checking out where his magic house has taken us to next and the local wildlife outside.
Thankful for our time spent in KS.
We moved on to more water views at two locations in OK before landing back in TX
Our only regret was the weather was too hot to enjoy being outside..Every day was close to or over 100 degrees while travelling through KS and OK
New view for the next month.
Some of the added textiles to make our space feel more like home.
Copper has a chair. He really is spoilt. On a more practical note less time on the ground means less likely to pick up ticks!!
Lastly I approve this message!!
