I was born and raised in England. I moved to the US at the age of 23 as a young mum of 2 children. My adult life has definitely seen many ups and downs. Living in the US was more of a culture shock than I thought it would be. Not being able to walk from A to B was probably one of the biggest changes for me and having to rely completely on getting around by using personal transportation. Of course driving on the other side of the road was also an interesting experience at first especially when I was tired! The weather I found was also very different and a regular thunderstorm could bring more than I wanted it to. I learned new terms regarding the weather, funnel/wall clouds, the difference between a tornado warning and watch, how big hail could really be, what an ice storm looked like and the absolute necessity of air conditioning. Hint: its not always needed for the heat but for the humidity outside! A divorce and feelings of hopelessness/loneliness eventually brought me to the feet of Jesus. I did not end up at His feet willingly. My stubborn and often prideful nature saw me in situations I didn’t need to be in, but looking back over that time in my life I see that God was always with me and had been very patient. He still is.
To cut a long story short I did remarry and we have been together 21 years. We are a blended family of 5 children with their spouses and 5 grandchildren. I have reinvented myself professionally several times moving around the US and living in Italy working in Child Development, Occupational Therapy, the local school system as a Special Educational Para, Catering, Professional Organizing, Esthetician and trained as a Health Coach. I often joke that I am a Jack of many trades and a master of none. A cancer diagnosis, awful bouts of anxiety which led to agoraphobia (fear of the market place) having the opportunity to travel and meet so many incredible people, many we call friends/family, experiencing loss/grief and my relationship with God have helped shape who I am today.
My husband and I are now part of a RV ministry travelling full time volunteering at different Christian camps and organizations. I am not sure how long we will travel full time but this is my story this far…..
