Okie Days

Posted on May 21, 2024 by Lou

Our time in Oklahoma seeing family and friends is coming to a close. It has been a wild weather ride so far with many late nights watching the local weather channel, tornado sirens, sheltering in place with strangers, their families and many dogs. Last year we were hit by large hail in April. This might not be the best time to be in Oklahoma in a RV! What has balanced out the craziness of the weather is seeing and spending time with old friends, receiving grand kid hugs, a surprise visit from my oldest son and his girlfriend, taking care of Drs appts, receiving a much needed massage and a haircut, starting and finishing Continuing Ed hours, many good conversations over meals and really just being around familiar which a life on the road does not normally bring. Over the last year that is probably what I have missed the most..the familiar. When I am here people already know me, I can easily navigate myself around. If I get lost I have confidence I can find my way back. T and I drove to check out some land hoping that it might be a spot to set up a home base, but unfortunately the road and entrance to the property were problematic, so after a year of it being on our radar we had to dismiss the idea, but are still actively looking.

Next month sees us doing a project while taking care of legal matters in Texas. I am ready to be back on a schedule. I did enroll in a coaching program this past month, so have started working out with weights which for the first time in my life I am finding enjoyable, I am writing something I am grateful for first thing in the mornings and documenting what I am eating and drinking. I am loving the accountability of having a coach. I knew if I didn’t do this for myself soon there would be no going back. I have been surprised by how stiff I am and how much food I have been wasting. Writing down my food amounts has increased my intake which isn’t a bad thing. I really pray that I can keep this up when I am done with the program and use my experience to encourage others. We haven’t taken as many pictures as I would like this visit but here are a few to put some faces to our time here.

love to each of you reading this- Lou
