Patience Young Grasshopper!

Posted on July 23, 2026 by Lou

I have been very emotional lately. Maybe it’s just the stage of life I am in age wise, as well as still grieving for things that were, while anticipating joyous events to come and the so many unknowns. Unknowns regarding health, the application process I started back in October, what is to come next now that T and I are aligned in coming off the road full time and for me personally as I navigate a life here in the north part of the state for the un-foreseeable future. T and I are actively looking on numerous websites for land/homes in this state and several others. My longing is still to have a glimpse of water from wherever we plant ourselves. I talk to God frequently about this and still pray we will miraculously find something that checks many of our want boxes. It can be easy to get discouraged as prices have increased considerably since 2020 and that’s where the phrase “Patience Young Grasshopper” comes in. Okay I will state the obvious I am not young anymore, but I am definitely learning patience in this season. Some days are more challenging than others as I try to manipulate a situation to hurry circumstances along. I should know by now that it is better for Jesus to take the wheel, but I still like to try taking over the steering anyways. Our RV is in its 6th week of repair; we have moved twice from a smaller to larger living space in the waiting and the weather recently has literally had us at a standstill. T and I have been trying to find some normalcy by getting up and walking earlier and then having some structure throughout the day with, journaling, reading, praying, exploring new recipes, completing everyday tasks and researching. Lots of researching. Ultimately it would be nice to have a home and a small RV to travel/work in part time. Of course we would like many things, but God might have a different idea and plan. Patience in the waiting. A friend sent me a job posting the other day and it had my rusty brain wheels turning. I have been living, believing that I am not capable for many years now. Helping out with the RV ministry newsletter has shown me that I can still navigate and learn new things if I put my mind to it. Please be praying with me as I start to put myself out there again and what the road ahead might look like. Pray I won’t live in fear and step out boldly in faith into the next season/chapter of our life’s journey.

This past weekend T and I travelled south to attend N and S’s baby shower. I did not have to do anything to help except welcome the many guests as a couple of S’s friends had graciously organized the whole thing. S’s parents were available and love to host as well so I tried to sit back observe and enjoy. S looked beautiful, some fun games were planned and much love was poured out on to N and S and baby E. It’s hard to believe that in about a month we will welcome baby E into the world and roughly two months later welcome baby C! Our lives will soon be changed forever. It’s so sweet to see both boys preparing to become Dads! I’m excited for this next chapter for all of us.

As always here are some pictures of recent events or goings on in our lives. There have been some changes with how to label pictures which is why a couple are labeled and the rest are not. I’m up the challenge for the next time I post to figure it out. The last graphic says its for postpartum, but like the post explains they are exercises for everyone. I have enjoyed trying to fit this routine into my early morning activities and wanted to share. Thank you for continuing to follow along. Love to each of you reading this and I hope we can connect in person or by phone soon – Lou

Copper needing to be where ever we are even if that means being covered in sawdust sitting under the table saw!

P.S This is a song we sang at church this past weekend. I wanted to share to remind us to root ourselves firmly in God’s word and rest in the fact He is faithful in every season of our lives.

Firm Foundation (He Won’t)

Christ is my firm foundation
The rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaken
I’ve never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
‘Cause He’s never let me down
He’s faithful through generations
So why would He fail now
He won’t, He won’t

I’ve still got joy in chaos
I’ve got peace that makes no sense
I won’t be going under
I’m not held by my own strength
‘Cause I’ve built my life on Jesus
He’s never let me down
He’s faithful in every season
So why would He fail now

Chorus
He won’t, He won’t
He won’t fail
He won’t fail

Rain came and wind blew
But my house was built on You
I’m safe with You
I’m going to make it through

Yeah, I’m going to make it through
‘Cause I’m standing strong on You
Yeah, I’m going to make it through
‘Cause my house is built on You
