Out West

Posted on July 8, 2024 by Lou

Hi everyone I just wrote a new blog post that I was going to have T check, then add pics and post. Well I had a laptop failure. I tried everything to recover what I had written to no avail. Lesson learned, I will write my thoughts down in a word document and then upload later. Knowing that I won’t write exactly what I had written before, I am posting some recent pictures with narrative so I can get something posted today. I hope to post more in the coming days on my coaching journey and recipes of tasty food we have tried lately while travelling.

Miss each of you and I hope this post finds you well. Thank you so much for your continued prayers for us on this journey of serving and travelling with the SOWERS ministry.

Love Me

We spent some time with N and his girlfriend S before leaving TX for a while.
It was unplanned but T got to help N with putting up some storage shelves in his garage. They had a great time listening to old western music and some how pushed through the heat to finish. N was so happy for T’s help.
Our night stay in Wichita Falls on our way to CO from TX. This park had extra long sites!
Next stop was Amarillo to see Palo Duro Canyon which was well worth an overnight stop for. We didn’t stay in the park but really enjoyed taking a drive and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We would love to go back and hike the lighthouse trail when its a little cooler.
View of the canyon from near the visitors center.
After two days of travel we landed finally in NM in a small town called Tucumcari which the Cars movie is loosely based off.
Route 66 sites in Tucumcari NM
On the main drag. There was a lot of history but much of it was in disrepair. It was sad to see what this town once was when people travelled on Route 66 as a popular way to get from A to B
A good restaurant we ate at which seemed popular with the locals.
We would love to know the story of this little house we found down one of the side streets in Tucumcari
Urban camping in Albuquerque
We had a very secluded area all to ourselves
We visited Old Town during our short stay and had some good Mexican food which made T happy
We took a dog friendly trolley tour of Albuquerque which we really enjoyed on July the 4th. It was also very hot, over 100, so this was a good way to see the city without doing too much walking.
An artist working on a mural. The city has many as well as a lot of art and sculptures.
Interesting architecture #1
Space ship house. The guy who owns it doesn’t do tours but William Shatner the actor bugged him and let him in.
Our new site for the next two months in CO.
Exploring our new location with a walk down to the camp lake.
