Alive and Breathing

Posted on November 24, 2025 by Lou

Hi I know its been a while and yes I am still alive and breathing. T and I didn’t take but a few pictures at N and S’s wedding so I was waiting for the professional shots and then honestly in between our travels and working I have been in a bit of a funk. Family gatherings are strange these days. A reminder of what was and what is. N and S’s wedding brought those facts into front and center again and I must admit I took a day to grieve then put on my big girl panties like T would say and moved on, because after all I was there to celebrate! And celebrate we all did! It was a wonderful day full of tears, big smiles, laughter and some interesting dance moves. The weather was typically Texas, hot and humid so I was thankful it was mainly an indoor wedding as half the wedding party including myself and T were wearing black. Its hard to believe that special day, that was talked about for a year, happened over two months ago. Since then we have travelled to Oklahoma and back to East Texas. I will let the pictures I post speak for themselves, but I will say after taking three months off from SOWER projects the group we served with in October were a good introduction back into the swing of things. There were many conversations around campfires, playing of games and good conversations. They were a very social and fun group.

As the month of November comes to a close we will be moving further south, but will miss this area and the people here. We have been parked at a training center that has an emphasis in the areas of prison ministry, discipleship, missions training and ministry. We have heard some powerful stories from students who have come out of prison themselves and believe they are being called into the mission field. T and I have felt welcome and accepted here. It is a very special place where we see how having a relationship with Christ changes lives. I feel like in our short three weeks here we have experienced more change too. I personally have been reflecting on my own relationship with God and sinful nature. I have teared up many times these last few weeks. Walls I have put up have started to come down and hopefully a softening of my heart. I believe change is coming and T and I are being prepared for something I just cant articulate what that is, because God hasn’t revealed the details yet. Please continue to pray for us during this time of waiting. Thanksgiving day is this Thursday in America. I hope wherever you find yourselves this week that you have a chance to stop and ponder what you are thankful for in this season of life. T and I are definitely thankful for each one of you! Until next time- Lou

Below are the lyrics to a song that we sang recently at church that really resonates with where I am right now.

More Like Jesus

You came to the world You created

Trading Your crown for a cross

You willingly died

Your innocent life paid the cost

Counting Your status as nothing

The King of all kings came to serve

Washing my feet

Covering me with Your love

If more of You

Means less of me

Take everything

Yes, all of You

Is all I need

Take everything

You are my life and my treasure

The One that I can’t live without

Here at Your feet my desires and dreams, I lay down

Here at Your feet my desires and dreams, I lay down

Oh Lord

Change me like only You can

Here with my heart in Your hands

Father, I pray

Make me more like Jesus

This world

Is dying to know who You are

You’ve shown us the way to Your heart

Father, I pray

Make me more like Jesus

More like Jesus

More like Jesus
