All Creatures Great and Small

Posted on January 14, 2024January 14, 2024 by Lou

We are one week into our three week project in central Florida. There is plenty for us to do here and for that we are all very grateful. The men have been working on the farm this week putting up a better fence for the animals as well as some other maintenance tasks. Also, with much determination and trouble shooting they fixed an electrical problem that the ministry had been having with the general store since Hurricane Ian. I have been working with the ladies in one of the two thrift stores that the ministry runs. We will be helping in both stores during our three week stay. We have been sorting and pricing donated items. Each store has an abundance of donations to go through which is a good problem, but not always the volunteers they need to be able to go through everything and get it out in the stores to sell. We are so glad to be here to help and have enjoyed this first week as we learn the ropes and meet some of the locals.

T and I love to play games and our small group is more than happy to partake with us. We introduced one of the couples to Play Nine and enjoyed a rather competitive several rounds of UNO. With games comes much laughter and friendly banter. Playing games is really is one of our favourite things to do these days. As a group we enjoyed a spot of tea and a light lunch at the ministries tea room to finish off a good first week.

*On a side note we are experiencing a lot of rain and there is a concern that those of us that are supposed to be moving on next month and those coming in are going to be fighting the soggy soil and possibly losing with heavy RV wheels! Please pray with our group for wisdom concerning the best course of action if the rain continues.*

Our daily entertainment when looking out the window and walking around.
Some of Coppers new friends. He has especially bonded with the farm donkey.
Walking and barking with the animals
We have to be careful not to run over the chickens when leaving
Finding the source of the electrical problem took much digging
Problem found
Some of the teapots at the tea room
More teapots with their cozies
T and I enjoying a spot of tea in the Pioneer room.
Delicious chicken salad that most of the group enjoyed whether in a dish or in between a croissant or Dave’s bread.
Game face!
