Travel Day

Posted on September 29, 2023 by Lou

Yesterday was a travel day for us after being stationary for two months in the beautiful mountain area of North Carolina. T and I really enjoyed serving at The Cove and introducing two new couples to the SOWER RV ministry, being able to reconnect with several friends that lived within a couple of hours of our location, the numerous hikes we were able to go on, the fresh produce we got to eat and the views! I am so glad we had that time there.

After packing up, which is a process (see pictures below) we said our goodbyes and headed southeast. We experienced many winding roads that went up and down. Our truck did so much better this trip with a tune up and praise God no Check Engine lights came on that T had to hide! We arrived safely before lunch thanks to many of your prayers and set up in our new camping area without any problems in part to a tip from a fellow SOWER. We got a very informative golf cart tour in the afternoon by one of the maintenance guys who will be the supervisor over our group while we are here. We learned T will be helping build a wall in the sound system storage area of the music department auditorium and I will be assisting in the administrative building. Everyone including the students seem very friendly and we are feeling optimistic about our time serving here.

Before our friends arrived today T and I went exploring and travelled to the historic downtown area, located the grocery store and farmers market (very important) and went for a leisurely walk with Copper around the local reservoir. When we returned we decided we still had time before lunch to explore the falls located on the college campus. The falls are beautiful and I can see why many weddings and other events are held there during the year. We actual remembered to take pictures this morning so please find a glimpse of our new location below.

We had to speed up to help the truck get to the top of this one!

Everything made it! I am used to setting up now. Doesn’t take too long at all to put things back in their place
